The Interbay Neighborhood Association had an opportunity to hear about the upcoming cruise season from the Port of Seattle's, Rosie Courtney yesterday. She provided facts on a variety of topics related to the cruise business this year.
Rosie mentioned that there could be opportunities for local businesses serving the cruise lines. Interbay has a variety of industries that produce cooking materials, cabinets, packing supplies and scooters that may be useful. The Port is estimating that Elliott Bay will see 211 Vessels and 801,000 passengers this year.
The the local economic impact will be $274 million, provide 2,380 jobs, and bring in $8 million in annual state and local taxes.
The cruise lines docking at Pier 90 and 91 will be Holland America which will offer 7-day cruises to Alaska with departures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Princess Cruises will also offer 7-day cruises to Alaska with departures every other Thursday.
Royal Caribbean will have 7-day cruises with departures every Friday.
The 15th Ave. W. fly over will be the main conduit for drop offs and loading of cruise ship passengers and products. The old Nissan parking lot will be for passengers driving to the docks, before getting on the shuttle to the cruise terminal.
